Students are StrugglingLonelyness, anxiety, perfectionism, & frustration, are a few things I hear to describe students experience at school. On top of this, it's impacting their ability to learn effectively and sometimes feel safe at school.
Small group art-based work targets the specific challenges of participating students. Students build confidence, express emotions, and build skills that support their school social and learning experience. |
Disregulated ClassroomsClassroom disruption and lack of focus is becoming more common for a varitey of reasons. A disregulated classroom environment is a challenging situation for staff and students alike.
Intensive art-based exploration, by engaging half of the classroom at a time, informs positive change in the classroom culture supporting the teacher in facilitating a more effective learning environment. |
Build Capacity for WellnessYouth are living in world that socializes them to avoid thinking about and caring for their emotions. This has a negative impact on youth mental health when we are working to reduce stigma and offer healthy coping skills.
Providing an overview and exploration of art-based wellness helps to build capacity for healthy expression of emotions at a time when poor mental health in youth is at an all time high. |

"You feel a lot calmer after doing this stuff and
easier to deal with frustration." - Grade 8 Student "Students were better able to be present and self-regulate." - Classroom Teacher "Liz creates a safe, structured, warm and welcoming environment - where studetns feel safe to explore SEL through art.
