Ways Art-Based Wellness can Happen in Your School
Small group sessions provide a safer environment for students to open up and truly experience the benefits of the creative process when targeting specific challenges.
Classroom sessions offer a more surface level opportunity allowing students to explore the process without putting too much of themselves into the experience.

Emotion Wellbeing: Building emotion awareness is key to supporting mental health and healthy relationships. Art is an accessible way for students learn to identify, express, and care for feelings.
Mindfulness & Art: Mindfulness can help individuals increase focus, reduce anxiety, improve sleep, and increase confidence. Blending mindfulness with art helps keep students interested and engaged.
Values: When students are clear on their values they are better equipped to make decisions that align with who they are and what is important to them. Art offers an effective visual to values and the role they play in our lives.
Peer Relationships: Maintaining healthy peer relationships during adolescence is often challenging. Art-based invitations encourage students to reflect on the ins & outs of peer relationships.
Support Dysregulation: Experiencing intense emotions can be challenging and overwhelming. Art-based grounding practices support students in learning healthy ways to regulate both energy and big emotions.

"You feel a lot calmer after doing this stuff and
easier to deal with frustration." - Grade 8 Student "Students were better able to be present and self-regulate." - Classroom Teacher "Liz creates a safe, structured, warm and welcoming environment - where students feel safe to explore SEL through art. It was lovely to see vulnerable students, students who are typically disengaged in school, and/or those who struggle to express themselves emotionally, become more engaged in school through therapeutic arts." - Guidance Counsellor |
