Art Journalling Subscription
Dear Creative,
Being a teenager is tough. Navigating peer relationships, school, hormone changes, social media, and family expectations can cause big feelings like anxiety, excitement, loneliness, and overwhelm.

The intensity of these emotions could last for a moment, a few days, or longer and in my experience, art is an effective way to slow down and let go of discomfort that build in our bodies.  A regular artful habit prepares our bodies before we experience big feelings, kind of like putting on sunscreen before spending a day in the sun.  On days when emotions feel unusually big, art can be a place to turn to, like using cooling lotion when you get a sunburn.

With teens in mind, I have designed a weekly virtual art journalling experience that is about slowing down and taking time to relax in your own space.  An art journal provides space to express ourselves while keeping everything in one place.  Think of it as a place to relax and let go.

To the teens, I’ll leave you with a final thought; this creative time is your time.  When you sit with your art journal, notice what you need (playful expression, relaxation, caring for big emotions, etc) and create with this in mind.  Be gentle and kind to yourself, you are enough.
